With the weather cooling down, I want to treat myself to my last few scoops of ice cream before it is time for sweaters and hot chocolate. Out of the great array of stores to choose from in the area, I turn to a classic, my favorite ice cream store, Tin Pot Creamery in downtown Los Altos. Walking through the doors of this quaint little shop, the first thing that catches your eye is the wide variety of items on the menu, which are colorfully displayed on blackboards. The tightness of the space only adds to the cozy atmosphere. The mellow ambience is inviting and comforting. After quiet deliberation, I decide to buy a pint of Blue Jasmine Tea, a new flavor I have always wanted to try.
The first thing that catches my eye as I am handed my pint is the gorgeous periwinkle color. The smooth and silky ice cream has the perfect texture for scooping. Because it is quick to melt, my first bite produces a watery floral sensation. The flavors melt on my tongue, the perfect mix between sufficiently rich and not too overpowering. I instantly fall in love.
Overall, the Blue Jasmine Tea flavor at Tin Pot Creamery is amazing, especially compared to other common ice cream flavors such as vanilla. While vanilla needs toppings and extra add-ins to complete the scoop of ice cream, Blue Jasmine Tea does not need anything to complete the experience. Based on appearance, I would rate the ice cream a nine out of ten because the visuals kept me entertained. Holistically, I would rate this flavor an eight out of ten.
My pint did cost $15.01, including tax, which is definitely on the pricier end of the spectrum compared to my other ice cream purchases. However, I was pleasantly surprised that the sweet ice cream was filled all the way to the top.
Blue Jasmine Tea is an amazing choice for people who enjoy floral flavors and for those who have dietary restrictions, as it is gluten-free. If I were to go to Tin Pot Creamery again, other flavors I would be interested in include coffee with cocoa nib toffee, due to the consistently high reviews I’ve heard from friends and family. Overall, I would definitely recommend Tin Pot and its Blue Jasmine Tea flavor.
