As avid Yogurtland fans, we’re always on the lookout for the best flavor combinations. So, we tried all of the flavors offered at our local Yogurtland on El Monte Avenue.
Rocket Pop Sorbet:
In recent years, Rocket Pop has become a staple in all Yogurtlands. Taking a bite out of this flavor instantly took us back to elementary school and eating popsicles on a hot school afternoon. While Anusha has loved Rocket Pop from the start, Katherine didn’t like the flavor when she initially had it. However, we both thoroughly enjoyed this flavor and its slushy-like consistency, rating it a 7.5/10 (Katherine) and an 8/10 (Anusha).
Citrus C Sorbet:
Just like Rocket Pop, this citrus frozen yogurt had a texture unlike the creamier flavors. It was fresh and had the perfect balance of sweetness and tang. This is one of the better flavors at Yogurtland and is sure to enter our usual rotations. 8.5/10 (Katherine) and 7/10 (Anusha).
Passion Orange Guava Tart:
Unfortunately, the Passion Orange Guava flavor just didn’t hit the mark for us. Katherine, who loves guava and tropical flavors, expected it to be refreshing. Anusha, on the other hand, went into the experience with low expectations. The creaminess felt weird with the fruitiness, and ultimately, this was one of the worst flavors. 4/10 (Katherine) and 3/10 (Anusha).
Plain Tart:
Only Katherine tried the tart froyo (Anusha refused to pay for such a basic flavor, though she has tried it in the past). This was simple, slightly sour, and overall a solid yogurt on which there was not much to comment. 7/10 (Katherine).
Classic Cookies and Cream:
Another Yogurtland classic that we both thoroughly enjoyed was Cookies and Cream. Anusha likes the creaminess and has made this a staple in her Yogurtland order. Katherine prefers chunkier cookies and cream but enjoyed the chocolatey flavor nonetheless. 7.5/10 (Katherine) and 8/10 (Anusha).
Yo Frappe:
While Katherine typically likes coffee ice cream, Anusha hates coffee in all its forms. However, both were thoroughly surprised. Katherine didn’t quite enjoy the Yo Frappe, but Anusha shockingly liked the taste and appreciated the sweetness. 4/10 (Katherine) and 7.5/10 (Anusha).
Honeydew:
We’ve never seen this flavor at Yogurtland before, but we both were ready to try it. Anusha believes that “honeydew just isn’t a fruit that’s that great, anyways,” so she was underwhelmed by the flavor. Katherine, who loves a good, refreshing honeydew dessert, was more than satisfied with it. The creaminess matched the honeydew and reminded her of boba drinks she used to get on special occasions when she was younger. 8/10 (Katherine) and 5/10 (Anusha).
Red Velvet Cupcake Batter:
There were some conflicting feelings on the new Red Velvet Cupcake Batter flavor. While Katherine didn’t quite appreciate its appeal (understatement—she hates all cake flavors and was disgusted by this froyo), Anusha thought it had a pretty decent taste. It tasted like a creamy red velvet cake (as to be expected) and was enjoyable. 2/10 (Katherine) and 6/10 (Anusha).
Salted Chocolate Soufflé:
Unfortunately, the high volume of flavors in the small bowl caused Anusha to lose the Salted Chocolate Soufflé. Meanwhile, Katherine was able to find a small bite to try. The saltiness was interesting but peculiar, and the chocolate didn’t live up to other chocolate flavors that she had tried before. 5/10 (Katherine).
Dutch Chocolate:
Anusha, who doesn’t usually enjoy dark chocolate, skipped this flavor because she knows she doesn’t like Yogurtland’s Dutch Chocolate. Conversely, Katherine keeps this as one of her three staple flavors (the other two being Fresh Strawberry and Toasted Coconut, which wasn’t available at the Mountain View location). The chocolate has a classic, rich flavor with a slight bitterness. 8.5/10 (Katherine).
Salted Caramel Cheesecake:
Another flavor that got lost in Anusha’s bowl (quite unfortunate because she loves cheesecake and was really looking forward to trying it) was the Salted Caramel Cheesecake. Katherine enjoyed the saltiness much more than that of the soufflé flavor and is considering adding this to her rotation of Yogurtland flavors. 6.5/10 (Katherine).
Matcha Green Tea:
While one of us (Katherine) is an avid matcha fan, consuming anything and everything green tea-flavored, the other (Anusha) has never really understood its appeal. However, we both could agree that this was the worst matcha we had ever tasted. Never again. We rated it a generous 2.5/10 (Katherine) and 1/10 (Anusha).
Fresh Strawberry:
As previously mentioned, Katherine loves Yogurtland’s Fresh Strawberry froyo. The only time she was underwhelmed was when it was replaced with a less creamy, more sorbet-like strawberry yogurt. Anusha thinks this is a solid flavor—nothing particularly unique, but still tasty nonetheless. 10/10 (Katherine) and 8/10 (Anusha).
