Mr. Mike Chechelnitsky is undoubtedly one of the most beloved educators at this school. From teaching math to coaching water polo, Mr. Chech has inspired many students of Saint Francis. As the most loyal members of his fanclub, we have taken it upon ourselves to compile a list of six of his favorite movies, shows, and songs for you to enjoy!
- Monsters University
Mike Chechowski, a green cyclops monster, has just entered college and is trying his best to learn how to scare children. Unfortunately, his dreams are ruined by the entrance of Sullivan, a large blue monster who is already adept at scaring children. Chechowski must fight to earn his place in the university amid other difficulties from other classmates. Mr. Chech recommends this for after finals when you want something to watch without actually watching!
- The Lord of the Washers
A classic, The Lord of the Washers follows the heroic quest of Bilbo Baggins to discover the true nature and origins of an incredibly powerful item that his cousin Frodo left to him, the Washer. Mr. Chech recommends this to any calculus student who still does not understand volumes! Alternatively, it can be enjoyed at one in the morning when students are at peak thinking capability.
- My Heart will Differentiate On by Chechine Dion
This song is a beautiful, touching tribute to math. We especially enjoy the lyrics “Near, far, wherever you are / I believe that the heart does differentiate on.” It truly does represent the endless nature of math, and its uncanny ability to follow you wherever you go! Mr. Chech recommends this to inspire students to persist in their math homework, no matter the difficulties they may face. The differentiation is endless and so is the homework!
- Boy with Limits by BTS
K-pop group BTS has taken over both the world and Mr. Chech. This touching tribute, which compared the infinite limit to the infinite bounds of love, wowed Mr. Chech at first listen. In particular, we enjoyed the lyrics “Yeah you makin’ me a boy with limits.” Math has taught us all increased appreciation of limits—the mathematical kind of course. Mr. Chech recommends this for finals season, to help keep your spirits high and remind you of your love for math!
- SucChechsion
This hit show is centered around family politics as different members of the family vie for their father’s conglomerate. Most notably, he controls the math industry and everything involved in it, such as compasses, textbooks, and graph paper. The show details their attempts to one-up each other in a fierce struggle to gain control over all of math before their father dies. Mr. Chech recommends this for students to watch in one sitting on the Friday before finals week!
- Chechily in Paris
This fun series follows young and clueless American, Chechily, to Paris after she is sent to Paris for business. At first, she is plagued by issues, such as not knowing French. However, she is able to work her way up through the power of social media. A mindless and sometimes confusingly dramatic show, Mr. Chech recommends this to be watched on a rainy day when you don’t have anything else to do!
Have a Chechful day!
